Enabling local settings
If you are normally using different settings then needed for the wxWidgets development, then you can setup a local vimrc-file in your development directory.
- Download the localvimrc-script from http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=441
- Copy the localvimrc.vim file to one of your plugin directories (e.g. ~/.vim/plugin)
- Setup the .lvimrc file in your development directory. For example with:
set tabstop=4 set expandtab
- Check with :scriptnames whether your .lvimrc file has been picked up.
Syntax highlighting
To have your wxWidgets code highlighted in Vim edit your:
/usr/share/vim/vim62/syntax/cpp.vim
and add:
" Read the wxWindows syntax to start with if version < 600 so <sfile>:p:h/wxwin.vim else runtime! syntax/wxwin.vim unlet b:current_syntax endif
After that, download http://bzzt.net/~wxwidgets/wxwin.vim and copy it to your /usr/share/vim/vim62/syntax/ directory.
(NOTE: The above link doesn't work anymore, but the content can be seen in this posting: http://lists.wxwidgets.org/pipermail/wx-users/2003-December/049950.html)
And you're done after that. Of course your vim directory could vary.
